Closure order for address in Southampton

Alert message sent 13/07/2021 14:53:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Today (Tuesday, 13 July) Southampton’s Proactive Team, in partnership with Neighbourhood Policing and Southampton City Council, secured a closure order for an address in Graham Road, Southampton, under Section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act.

The closure order means that nobody will be allowed to enter the address. If they do they will be committing a criminal offence and can be arrested. Police have now had the property boarded and secured.

Hampshire Constabulary applied for the order to address concerns around suspected drugs activity and anti-social behaviour.

Detective Constable Emma Atkey from Southampton’s Proactive team said: "We’ve taken this step having received a number of reports in recent months about anti-social behaviour and suspected drugs activity at the address.

“The activities of those living and visiting this address have had an enormous impact on the local community which is why we worked in partnership with Southampton City Council to take action.

“We would like to thank the local community for their help and patience while we worked with partners to gather the evidence needed to secure this order.

“These types of closures are never simple as it ultimately means someone is moved out of their home, however support will always be afforded to those that seek it and look to change their behaviours.”

Police work closely with partners such as Southampton City Council to tackle anti-social behaviour, and anyone concerned about this sort of activity where they live should contact their neighbourhood policing team on 101.

For any complaints surrounding neighbours, ensure you make contact with your local Housing Officer. For noise complaints please contact your local Council.
