CAN YOU HELP? - HEDGE END WEST END BOTLEY NETLEY BURSLEDON HAMBLE

Alert message sent 24/05/2021 17:24:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Citizen

On Thursday 20/05 some of our Community Speed Watch Team were finally able to get out and get to grips with the monitoring equipment, in preparation for regular Speed Watch sessions. They did this despite the wind and rain.

Thank you so much to all of the Hedge End Speed Watch team, your time, effort and dedication is very much appreciated by ourselves and the community.👍👏

☑Are you passionate about keeping the speed down on our roads?
☑Do you know anyone who can spare an hour or 2 a month?
☑Please SHARE this email with your friends and family and community groups, so we can reach everyone in Hedge End, West End, Botley, Netley, Bursledon and Hamble.

If you are interested or want to know more, please email Lisa Townend, our Citizens in Policing Co-ordinator on - lisa.townend@hampshire.pnn.police.uk

In time, our hope is to have both North and South Speed Watch Teams, so that we can cover roads throughout the Hedge End Sector, but we can only do this if enough volunteers come forward.

Speed Watch is run by volunteers to detect speeding and to highlight to motorists their speed has been detected in the local residential area. The aim is education - to change behaviour. Letters are sent out to speeding motorists, which can prove very effective, rather than penalising motorists with fines and points. No money is made by Speed Watch and the volunteers are local residents giving up their time, to make the local area safer. If a motorist is detected speeding excessively, or more than once, then further action can be taken.

Kind Regards, PCSO 12948 Mica Woodcock.
