Theft from vehicle - Popley

Alert message sent 04/05/2021 13:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good afternoon,

I'd like to make you aware of the following:

Sometime between the 03/05/21 01:25 and 04/05/21 02:25, unknown offender(s) have stolen a catalytic converter from a Honda Jazz which was parked on Bermuda Close, Popley.

If you have any information that could assist Police, please either go online using this link https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/, ring 101 if urgent or reply to this alert quoting 44210169997.

The precious metal in catalytic converters has led to an increase in their theft. To keep yours safe, ask your car dealer if they can give you any advice on locks or guards that are approved by the vehicle manufacturer and tested to Sold Secure Gold.

Alternatively, try to make sure your vehicle is parked in a garage overnight, or if you have a commercial vehicle park it in a secure compound. If this isn’t possible, park in an area that’s well-lit and overlooked and try to park so that the convertor can’t be easily reached by potential thieves. Vehicles that sit high above the road are particularly vulnerable.

You should also register your converter and mark it with a forensic marker, which will make it harder for thieves to dispose of.

Thank you.
