Man arrested following racially aggravated assault

A man has been arrested following an incident where a man in his 30’s was subjected to a racially aggravated assault in Southampton.

A 23-year-old man, from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault. He remains in custody at this time.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 23 February at around 4.15pm in Vosper Road, Southampton.

It was reported that a man in his 30’s was out jogging when a group of people in a car drove past and shouted abuse at him. The group of men then stopped the car and assaulted the man.

The man in his 30’s, suffered minor facial injuries and a minor injury to his elbow.

Chief Inspector Ricky Dhanda said “Any crime that is committed through ignorance, prejudice or hate is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our city.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or has any dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
