Theft of Motorcycle Series

Alert message sent 16/12/2020 12:25:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Citizen,

Hampshire Constabulary would like to bring to your attention a series of Theft of Motorcycles which appears to occurring in the Hook area.

Over the past four days we have received two reports where offender/s have stolen unattended and secured motorcycles from the communal car park of a residential building. At the time of writing we have not been able to identify any lines of enquiry to progress our investigation.

We would ike to take this opportunity to provide any motorcycle owners with the following advice:
  • Where possible, please keep your motorcycle in a secure building. Ensure the doors and windows to this building are locked.
  • Please consider the use of a heavy duty chain lock or similar. Alarmed chains are also available.
  • Consider the use of a tracker. This will provide police with an active line of enquiry should you fall victim to this crime.
  • Use other vehicle's to block in the motorcycle if it has to be stored outside.
  • Consider the use of CCTV overlooking where the motorcycle is stored. Advertise this CCTV with signage.
We will be increasing our patrols in the local area in order to tackle this crime trend. We would ask that any suspicious incidents are reported either via 101 or online at www.hampshire.police.uk. If you believe a crime is in progress, call 999.
