Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Hello,

I am the sergeant for the area and just wanted to reassure you the community that your local neighbourhood team are here, still on duty and will be doing what we can to continue engaging with you.
This may be reduced in the form of public face to face meetings, but at present there are no plans to cease patrols.
Your neighbourhood team, although will be working around the recent events are still here for you. Please find some key messages from the force.

· In line with government advice and the latest information from Public Health England about keeping our communities and our staff safe, we have decided to postpone most face to face events.

· We are out and about keeping you safe. Please do follow the latest advice from our partners at Public Health England to keep yourself healthy. If you do need our assistance, please contact us on 101 or online via our website www.hampshire.police.uk

· Cyber criminals are exploiting people’s interest in COVID-19 to steal login details and download malware. This has increased as more people have become reliant on internet based services because they are working from home or in isolation. Please read and follow the current advice from the National Cyber Security Centre to avoid becoming a victim of Ransomware. https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/blog-post/updating-malware-ransomware-guidance

Please follow our facebook page www.facebook.com/basingstokecops for regular news and updates.

Many of you have already asked about helping your own communities and our Facebook page along with the councils own website has links where you can register and take part, this is so that they are registered and organised centrally.

Crime trends in your area remain some of the lowest in the area, but I still urge you to take full advantage of the online reporting facility on our website above where most types of crime can be reported without the need to call 101.

I am sure with new updates from the government that over the next few weeks things will move forward and quickly, I will do my best to keep you updated of any changes from our team.

Take care, look after yourselves, family, friends and community.
