Thefts from Vehicles

Alert message sent 22/10/2019 15:45:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Recently there has been a spate of thefts from vans in the Andover area, whereby tools have been stolen.  We appreciate it is not always practical to remove all tools when your van is left overnight, but you can reduce the risk by following some simple advice:
  1. Close all windows and ensure your vehicle is locked to avoid opportunist thefts.
  2. Take all personal possessions with you and do not leave items on display.
  3. Fit an alarm or immobiliser to your vehicle.
  4. Consider fitting a tool safe with a good quality lock.
  5. Try to park your vehicle near a building or hedge to restrict access.
  6. Mark tools that are stored in your vehicle with the name of your company, postcode, house/building number or name.  Items that are marked are less desirable and more difficult to sell on.
  7. Consider registering tools on the free site
If you see anything suspicious, contact Police on 101.
If you witness a crime in progress, or you believe a crime is about to happen, call 999.

Thank you.
