Hi Resident Good evening ! If you find this information helpful, please “rate” this message at the bottom (very quick and simple). Please can you share the following as appropriate with your communities? Trading Standards have been made aware of potential rogue traders carrying out landscaping/tree surgery/gardening on the Island. If someone knocks your door and suggests you need work doing on your property DO NOT engage with them. If you are concerned about your property contact a reputable Island trader, either through recommendation from friends and family or from the IOW Trader Approval Scheme. No Cold Calling stickers are available by emailing trading.standards@iow.gov.ukWe are seeing an increase in reporting scam mail. Some are asking for help with managing the estate of someone who has died abroad and for this you will be paid 30% of the multi million pound inheritance – this is a SCAM you will be expected to pay money up front for various taxes and administration. Others claim that you have won millions in a foreign lottery, again this is a SCAM and you will pay money for fees and never see a penny back – DO NOT respond to these letters.Age UK IOW have reported clients receiving calls claiming to be from them, asking information about finances and property – this is a SCAM – Age UK would never contact you like this.
