First of all from Trading Standards is one for local businesses We have received a report from one of our IWASP partners saying that their accounts department had received an email with an invoice attached. Fortunately this was identified as a scam and reported to the appropriate authorities. If you are responsible for paying invoices within your business please make sure that they are genuine before processing. If you receive a message like this contact your friend in person and ask if this is genuine.More reports of scam texts advising that you have an overdue parking ticket and telling you to click on a link to make a payment to avoid additional fees and having your licence revoked – this is a SCAM, always query things you are unsure of – don’t be frightened or pressured into respondingRecent reports indicate that rogue traders are on the Island offering jet washing services. If you need anything cleaned at your property we have a variety of traders on the Isle of Wight Trader Approval Scheme that will be able to do a reliable job with the correct products and at a genuine price. Do not be misled by rogue traders if anyone knocks the door to try to carry out any kind of job at your property send them away. This wont be from your family member – it is a scam -do not respond or if you are worried why not set up a family password so any communication appearing to come from a love one can be verified by asking for the password Stay Safe |
