Good morning, Ringwood,
I hope you are all well and had a good New Year. I am keen to get back into the deployment updates of the team so you can keep an eye on what they are up to.
On Monday we had a report of a Mercedes that had been left in an unusual location. We have reunited the vehicle with its owner and the investigation is on-going. Thank you to the public for making us aware.
Yesterday we had a report of a shoplifting in progress in Ringwood town. We were on scene within 5 minutes with a suspect arrested and in custody. This was a great example of the public and police working together to target offenders entering Ringwood from out of area to commit crime.
We also assisted our area crime team colleagues with a search of an address after an arrest for burglary was carried out this week.
The team have also been locating vulnerable people, responding to incidents and charging / convicting offenders. We had a recent guilty plea from a male that travelled all the way over to Ringwood from Portsmouth to shoplift and commit crime. He was identified, tracked down, and summoned to court with a successful result. He is awaiting sentencing.
There have also been several collisions due to the icy conditions each morning so please drive with care and allow extra time.
We also have several new police officers on the Ringwood team who will be out and about this week. Please stop and say hello to them as they are keen to meet the local public!
We will also be organising some beat surgeries in the coming days so please feel free to suggest any locations which you may prefer. We have previously used Waitrose and the Library in Ringwood as well as the set locations in Burley and Bransgore. I hope you all have a good weekend and will update you again soon. PC Bigland - Local Bobby Ringwood
