I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Speeding, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good evening everyone,
As part of my PCSO role, I support and assist, our fantastic Community Speedwatch (CSW) Team. Community Speedwatch is run by residents from the local community. Our fantastic CSW team cover the whole of the Hedge End Sector – Hedge End, West End, Botley, Bursledon, Netley and Hamble.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU to the new residents / volunteers that have recently joined the team and to the long standing members - we are very grateful for your time and efforts to help improve the safety of the roads.
But we still need more volunteers to join this amazing team! Can you spare just a few hours a month? Or do you know anyone who can?
Please use this link to complete the CSW Application form - https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=eUPeI3qVpkGVhxZdbGtNvZvoiWnxVF1GkOPa87wPZXNUQkdYRk5BQTlXUjI4QTFFQjROV0dYTU40TCQlQCN0PWcu&origin=QRCode
Whilst Community Speedwatch is an educational scheme, the data that’s collected, is then shared with our Neighbourhood police officers and the Roads Policing Unit, so they know where is best to allocate enforcement resources.
Speeding is one of the ‘Fatal Four’ - these are the four poor driving habits, that pose the greatest risk of leading to a serious or fatal collision – so we will continue to do what we can, to target those who speed. If you are not speeding, you have nothing to worry about. And please remember the speed limit is not a target to achieve – it is the maximum speed you should be driving on that road.
Please see the attached for the stats on the CSW October and November road sessions.
