🚨 Baffins Community Update 🚨 |
||
Good Evening everyone,
I hope you all managed to enjoy your weekend despite the challenging weather. I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief update on recent matters affecting the Baffins area.
🔥 Fires in Cobden Park I have been investigating the recent incidents involving youths setting fires on the basketball court at Cobden Park. Thanks to the support of local residents and the cooperation of our fantastic local schools, we’ve identified eight individuals believed to be involved. I’ve been engaging with those young people and their families, and these conversations will continue over the coming days and weeks.
You may have noticed a new CCTV camera has been installed overlooking the basketball court. I’m grateful to the council for acting swiftly to support our efforts in keeping the park safe.
I understand the concern these incidents have caused, and I want to reassure you that this matter is being taken seriously. I will continue working closely with schools, parents, and partner agencies to prevent further issues. If you have any information that could assist my investigation, please get in touch directly or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
🚁 Police Helicopter Activity On Friday, residents may have noticed a police helicopter operating over the Baffins area. This was part of a coordinated response to assist in the search for a high-risk missing person. The helicopter provided aerial support to ground teams, helping us cover a wider area more efficiently.
🏍️ Motorbike Rider Concerns At our recent beat surgery at Beeny’s Café, a member of the public raised concerns about a motorcyclist in the area. The concern was that the rider was using his motorbike with a pillion passenger but the passenger was not wearing a helmet.
While out on patrol I spotted his very distinctive motorbike and pulled him over for a chat. The rider (who had not been driving long) accepted he had been “giving his mate a lift”. The rider was re-educated about the Road Traffic Act and his responsibilities as a road user. He was also reminded that his bike is very distinctive, so if I have any further complaints about his manner of driving he will simply be summons to court.
📣 Community Meeting – Tomorrow at 7PM A reminder that our next Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Meeting will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7:00 PM at St Cuthbert’s Church. This is a great opportunity to hear updates from your local councillors and I, and to raise any concerns or questions you may have.
Thank you for your continued support. | ||
