A Message from Your Local Officer – Local News |
||
Good Morning Everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Last week was a busy week for us in the Fratton & Baffins team, particularly for PC 29372 FAVARETTO who arrested 2 drink drivers in the Baffins area, 2 shifts in a row!
🚓 Double Drink Drive Arrest 🚓
On Thursday night, PC 29372 FAVARETTO responded to a call from a member of the public, reporting a male driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. PC 29372 FAVARETTO managed to track him down and conduct a preliminary roadside breath test which indicated that he was twice the legal limit. He was arrested, taken to custody and we await blood results.
Then, Friday night PC 29372 FAVARETTO and I respond swiftly to a report from a concerned member of the public about a delivery driver who appeared to be, in their words, “sozzled.”
We were quick to locate the vehicle and conduct a preliminary roadside breath test. The driver blew a staggering 145 – over four times the legal limit. The driver was promptly arrested by PC 29372 FAVARETTO and taken to custody where things got worse for the driver. The evidential breath sample returned with a reading of 157 – the highest reading any of our team has personally encountered. It will come as no surprise that the driver has been charged and will appear in court shortly.
👮♂️ That makes two drink drive arrests in a row for PC FAVARETTO in Baffins. Not the kind of double order we like to see.
⚠️ In all seriousness, drink driving is no joke. Anytime someone gets behind the wheel intoxicated, they gamble with their life and the lives of everyone around them. It’s not just a bad decision — it’s a potential death sentence. The consequences can be catastrophic: serious injury, loss of life, criminal charges, and lifelong regret.
We’re grateful to the vigilant member of the public who reported this to us – your call may have prevented a tragedy.
If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol, help is available. Speak to your GP, reach out to local support services, or contact organisations like Alcoholics Anonymous. You’re not alone.
