Local Priorities Nuisance Vehicle use Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Nuisance Vehicle use, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

A 22-year-old man from Netley has been charged with several offences following a vehicle stop and search by officers on Netley Lodge Close on Saturday evening (12 July).

Wesley Solis-Velasco, of Victoria Road, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above the limit, assault by beating of a police officer, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Solis-Velasco has been bailed to be appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 2 September.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

February 2025 saw the publication of the Ministry of Justice Crime and Policing Bill: Antisocial behaviour (ASB) factsheet. This outlined a number of new measures including making powers to seize vehicles under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 easier to use, allowing the police to react robustly and immediately to the anti-social use of motor vehicles.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at www.hampshire.police.uk, or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
