Good afternoon!
You may have seen earlier in the week a post from me talking about “quitting” your vehicle – leaving it unattended with the engine running and the keys still inside. You may have also noticed that I filmed a video on Hawley View and it appeared very cold, and very early…
You wouldn’t be wrong!
Over the past week, PC Kev Wright, PCSO James Bannon, APS Hannah Paramore and myself have started our duties early in the morning to target theft from motor vehicles in the Blackwater and Hawley area. This is after we’ve had a number of reports from Hawley View, Oakfield Road, Waldorf Heights, Christchurch Drive and the adjoining roads.
We’ve been out in the cold and dark, roaming around the beat, hunting criminals who are keen to take advantage of our community’s vulnerabilities by roaming around in the shadows, trying door handles and stealing whatever’s left in your cars overnight.
I’m pleased to say that we’ve had no reports of theft from motor vehicles since 26th February.
Whilst it’s difficult to say if our actions have prevented this, it’s certainly helpful to come to you and show you what we’re doing to keep you safe.
I took some time to film a video for you on Monday to give you an idea of what we were up to, and how you can keep your valuables safe. Click here to watch it.
Stay safe,
PC 27999 Ben Blundell, Designated Neighbourhood Officer for Yateley, Blackwater and Hawley.
