Dear resident

A vehicle crime has been reported in your neighbourhood

If you saw or heard anything or have any information about the below incident please call our non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference number provided.

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Reference: 44200052805

Location: Ferndown Close, Basingstoke

Date and time: Between 20:30 hours on 10/02/2020 and 09:00 hours on 11/02/2020

Offence details:   A transit van was broken into by means unknown and power tools were then stolen from the vehicle.

If your vehicle has keyless entry and you are concerned regarding the security of this feature then investigate whether it is possible to switch your car key's signal off. Check your manual to find out if your key has this function or ask your dealer if the system can be disabled.

Never leave your vehicle insecure or leave valuable items in your vehicle.

Installing a steering wheel lock, driveway parking post and/or a wheel clamp are great deterrents to car thieves. Please ensure that the keys to the steering wheel lock are kept separate to your car keys.

As an added protection against keyless theft you can also purchase a signal blocking pouch or tin and install a tracking device on your vehicle to aid in the recovery should your vehicle be stolen.
