Burglaries in Hatch Warren

Alert message sent 15/08/2019 23:30:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear residents,

Many of you who follow Basingstoke cops on Facebook will have read the reports of recent burglaries in the Hatch Warren and Chineham areas.  These took place overnight on Tuesday 13th August 2019.  The houses that were targeted in Hatch Warren were in Gloucester Close, Exeter Close and Norwich Close.

Following the burglaries we have increased reassurance patrols in the areas and investigations are ongoing.

In some of the burglaries the offenders were able to gain entry because the front doors were insecure.

I would like to remind you of the following advice.
Lock all windows and doors to the property, remembering to double lock UPVC doors( lift handle and turn the key).

Keep all keys out of reach and sight from the letterbox.

Remove keys from the front door and rear door locks ( remember a device can be used to hook keys through)

Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.

Do not leave ladders and garden tools in your garden, lock them in the shed.

Remove valuable from view of ground floor windows.

Any high value items such as phones, laptops, game consoles and jewellery can be signed up and registered on the free service https://www.immobilise.com.  This allows us to return items to the original owner if recovered.
