Section 60 in Mansbridgeand Swaythling

Alert message sent 13/06/2019 14:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good afternoon,

You may be aware that last night (June 12) we were given a section 60 authorisation in the Swaythling and Mansbridge areas of Southampton. This meant officers were able to stop and search anyone in that area to prevent serious violence.

We stop checked 42 people in total. No weapons were found during the searches, however the section 60 did prevent any further incidents of serious disorder from occurring.

The section 60 is no longer in place, however officers will continue to be in the area today and are working with local schools.

Reducing most serious violence is a priority for Southampton. Support from the community in anything that we do is incredibly valuable and using these powers is an example of how we want to and will respond to public concerns.
