Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Sagar Bhatti (pictured) in Eastleigh are renewing their appeal for information.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw Sagar on the evening of Saturday, 9 March or during the early hours of Sunday, 10 March to help piece together his movements in the hours before his death.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Lee Macarthur, said: “We know that Sagar was out with friends, and went to Winchester and Eastleigh, on the evening of Saturday, 9 March.  He travelled back from Winchester to Eastleigh on a train later that evening or during the early hours of Sunday morning.  He then went to The Station pub and we think he then took a taxi back to the Boyatt Wood area.

“We want to speak to anyone who saw Sagar that evening or during the early hours of Sunday morning.  Even if you don’t have information about the incident that lead to his death, we still want to speak to you.  We need as much information as possible so we can build up a picture of exactly what happened in the lead up to this tragic incident.

“We also still need to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance in the Broadlands Avenue area between 3.30am and 5.45am on Sunday, March 10.  If you live in the area and have CCTV, please let us know as you may have captured something which could assist our investigation.

“We still also want to speak to anyone who was driving along Woodside Avenue between 5.30am and 5.45am that morning.  If you saw anyone in the area between these times or think you may have captured something on your dash cam then please let us know.

“Even the smallest bits of information, that might not seem significant to you, may turn out to be very valuable to the investigation, so please do get in touch.”

Officers were called at 5.44am on Sunday 10 March to a report of two vehicles colliding with a pedestrian on Woodside Avenue.

The pedestrian, Sagar Bhatti, 23, of Avon Green, Chandlers Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
