Alert message sent 09/03/2019 20:58:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

If you live in Lymington, you may have seen us in your neighbourhood tonight responding to an incident involving a man with a knife.

It was reported to us at 6.12pm (March 9) that a man had been attacked at a home in Lower Buckland Road and then fled the scene.

In response to this, armed officers were deployed to the area and with the assistance of a police helicopter and dog unit carried out a search.

We located and arrested a 39-year-old man from Pennington just after 7pm. He remains in police custody at this time.

A man from Lymington is being treated for wounds to his head. His injuries are not considered to be serious.

We understand this may have had an impact on your community this evening and we want to reassure you that there is no risk to the wider public.

We would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to get in contact with us to the assist the investigation. Please call 101 and quote 44190083487.
